You may have heard of LickiMats treat mats for dogs, but do you know the reasons why they are so great? Read on to find out why...

1. Improved Oral Health

LickiMat Treat Mat

LickiMat works by stimulating your dog’s tongue which increases salvia production further cleaning the tongue, teeth and gums. Scraping the tongue also helps freshen their breath (winning!). Increased saliva production can also aid your dog's digestion as it contains enzymes such as Amylase.

2. Makes Bath Time Or Grooming Easier

Does your dog hate bath time? Will they not let you near them to trim their claws? Well this is where the LickiMat Splash comes into action!

The LickiMat Splash features a sturdy suction cup for fixing to the side of the bath or another flat surface so you can effortlessly distract your dog while you give them a good scrub!

3. Promotes Calm Behaviour & Reduces Anxiety

LickiMats are specifically designed to reduce anxiety and promote calm behaviour in your dog by encouraging the licking action. This extended licking action releases a calming hormone in both dogs and cats, making LickiMats a great anxiety reliever.

If your dog struggles when they're left alone, a LickiMat is a great way to keep them entertained when you have to leave them. They are also fab for use during thunder storms, fireworks or other loud noises which worry your dog.

4. Use As A Slow Feeder

LickiMats are perfect for dog's who like to scoff their food down. Eating too fast can lead to all sorts of issues like bloating, discomfort and vomiting.

By pressing some of their favourite wet food, or dry food mixed with water, into the LickiMat with the back of a spoon, you can make it harder for them to eat it all. Or, pop it in the freezer to make it last even longer!

Give the LickiMat Slomo treat mat a try - these mats feature two different surfaces divided into four sections allowing different food to be served at the same time.

Treat ideas: Peanut butter (sugar free), almond butter, yogurt, smashed sardines, pumpkin purée, crushed kibble, you name it!

5. Designed by Vets

The LickiMat story began in Australia while working with two vets to design a product to improve the Oral Hygiene and Oral Health of dogs.

Vet costs associated with pet dental work had been increasing for lots of reasons and was a serious health issue that needed to be addressed. LickiMat worked on two principles: stimulating the tongue to produce more saliva that in turn leads to healthier teeth and gums; and scraping the tongue to reduce undigested food particles and odour-causing bacteria.
